Friday was my first time ever down the 1320. I only got 2 runs in due to a really big crowd. Considering that both myself and 2k teg are new at this, I was happy just because I didn't "suck too bad", and more importantly, nothing broke!
1st:
ET 14.9593
R/T 1.1904 (staring in awe at the lights!)
1/4 Speed 98.1025
60ft 2.4139
330ft 6.6043
1/8mi 9.8746
1000ft 12.6087
2nd, w/150 pound son in car:
ET 14.7884
R/T .8342
1/4 Speed 97.5375
60ft 2.3194
330ft 6.3932
1/8mi 9.6719
1000ft 12.4256
I was trying to launch at about 2500 so that I wouldn't spin too badly, but my right foot had a mind of it's own and I think both launches were closer to 3k. TP was 45 rear, 18 LF and 20 RF. I guess that my second run would have been about a tenth or so better w/o my passenger.
My teg dyno'ed @ 183 whp & 139# torque after installation of the JRSC/JR pump. The only other mods I have are Injen CAI and type R catback. I added the JR MAP controller mod last week. I'm thinking about a BTC, a header/CAT, and a hundred other things that I can't afford, for the future.
Any suggestions or comments on my times above? I had enough fun running the car that I will be back, and I'd like to improve on these, if I can.
Thanks!
Bill

Well lots of practice will always help!!
First off what model Teg do you have??...second is if you practice some more you should be able to hit a 2.1/2.2 60fts on street tires....that will definately help your times alot...and dont worry about reaction times yet since they dont have any effect on your ET on the run....last would be would you consider a set of drag slicks??

John,
It's a GSR. I know that practice & experience is the key, as with most things. Hopefully after a few more times down the track I will be able to settle down and be more perceptive of whats happening with traction, shift points, and all the other components of drag racing. I didn't realize how hard it would be to focus when there is a 12 sec. firebreathing Chevelle w/open headers thundering next to you. It would be nice to race w/my own kind, but racing against big V8's teaches you humility, I guess.
I may consider slicks after I get some more experience w/street tires and am confident that I've gotten all I can out of my streets, which are Kuhmo's and grip pretty good, btw.
Thanks for your feedback!

Bill...When I first saw your HP levels I thought maybe you had a LS thats why I asked...you need to work on the tuning some more..your car should be 200+ to the wheels on the dyno(what dyno were u using?)...183 is on the low side...even without the header...double check your timing, plugs, fuel pressure, boost level, A/F ratio Etc..post the specs here so we can give suggestions...I think you can definately tweek your setup and get some more HP out of it...oh and by the way dont worry about the BTC at 6psi....spend the money on a good header
Good Luck!!

Yes, I know what you're thinking, but look at my dyno, sc vs no sc:
As you can see, my numbers beforehand were on the low end of the scale for most GSR's.
Timing - 10 degrees
Plugs - Stock, regapped
Fuel Pressure - 52/62/?? (under hood gauge)
A/F - Rich, 3rd green
Compression - 200 200 195 195
Injectors - Stock (they may need a trip to RC for testing)
I know it could be leaned out a bit, but I want to get that done at the dyno w/my installer & tuner. The dyno I've been using is the Dynojet at Extreme Motorsports in Jessup, MD - DSM specialists, but they seem to be conscientious & know their stuff. I mentioned the BTC since it would allow moving timing back to stock. Do you have any suggestions for a header for my application? I'd go the Kami+Carsound route, but I don't want to loose my low and midrange guts.
Any other suggestions gratefully accepted.
Thanks,
Bill

I gotta agree with John on your power levels Bill...
We installed a JRSC on a stock GSR (w/header) in a Civic Hatch and without doing any tuning whatsoever (just wanted a baseline pull) and it made 205whp...
On a side note:
Does anybody here know what RC charges to flow test injectors ?...

Well Bill did you do all the work yourself or are you quoting what a shop did??...I have a friend that had a install done and it was botched...he dynoed at 190 with his GSR....it ended up that the timing and the plug gaps were off...he lost like 30 hp from it...but otherwise it drove OK...we found out later that the mechanic that installed had said he had set the timing at 10 degrees...but he did not check it with the service check conector shorted...when another mechanic checked it..it was at 16 degrees...go figure...just re-check everything...pull the plugs(what plugs are u using?) and re-gap them..most of the people here use in the .036-.040 inches range...and make sure that the timing was set with the service check connector shorted...Im sure you will find something...my friend with I/H/E and a JRSC at 6psi dynoed at 221 to the wheels...that why I would think you would be at least 200hp

I had Ben Shaeffer, a local Honda tuner do the blower. He is a JR dealer and has done at least 50 GSR's in his shop. He knows about the service connector, hehe. I am still using the original platinum plugs. I just checked them today for coloration, they looked good, not white or black. I will check and re-gap them this week. I'd also like to know where the missing 15hp is.

You should switch over to the NGK copper tips NGK BKR7E-11...the platinums dont seem to do to well with FI...keep us up to date on your progress...good luck!!
Oh by the way when you drag race...dont worry about the guy on the other side....just look straight ahead and concentrate on your run and try to get staged first so you can take a breath for a second..its helps...and one more thing..I saw your tire pressures they look good(stock tires?)but are you going around the water box?

John,
I'll go ahead and get some NGK copper plugs and gap them as suggested.
Regarding concentrating at the line, will do - it wasn't so much that I was distracted by the other vehicle, I just wasn't used to not being able to hear my engine *at all* because of the thunder from the next lane.
And yes, I drove around the water. If I can find a bit more power, and get a bit more experience at the track, who knows, I might end up with some respectable times.
I'll keep you posted, I really appreciate you taking the time to give me a hand!
Bill
